Well i never thought i'd be writing in this section of the forum but yet here i am, i borrowed a tank from a friend, was going to use a big tub but the offer of the tank came up so using that instead.
Every thing is set up and the fish are in shes safe in her trap and he's just making his self at home by the look of it, hopefully he will make a start on a nest some time soon. Heres the two, as chosen by you
Yes storm thanks for the help it was very useful. Chard the reason i chose those two was because you said a half moon dragon female would be good with the red plakat male which i dont have, but i still may loan him to my friend who does, who has agreed to split the spawn, just thought id try my luck as you said with these two as its my first time breeding, thanks for the advice though its much appreciated
I was joking but you should get some nice Steel colored fry and depending on the females background you might get some surprises with different fin types.
Ok chard wasnt sure its easy to mis understand on forums weather people being serious or not
Yes i set everything up yesterday he has built a lovely nest and is doing some serious flaring at his girl, been feeding them plenty and her belly is a little fatter today.

Well the female has been out of her trap all after noon, she has thick stripes and big belly, not much has happened apart from abit of chasing her round, shes spent most of it hidden amongst plants she has a few nips to her fins but nothing too drastic, what now do i leave her with him or return her to her trap.
I would leave her out for a while longer hun. If it doesnt look like its going to happen tonight, pop her back into the trap overnight and try again in the morning.. Well thats what I would do anyway
Ive just taken her out she was looking very stressed, will let her out again in the morning if all the signs are good. Ive seen my sweet boy in a different light, thanks for the help everyone
A little technique I use is to float her in a cup for 15 or 20 minutes before going to bed. I release her just before lights out. Now they know each other are there and get to know one another in the dark. It seems to make him a little less aggressive and her a little more responsive. Not 100 percent but it works more times than not.
