Right Im already to go, fish in place, they were already tarting in the split tank so decided to just go for it since these two were looking pretty compatible. They have been in the breeding tank now since this morning, and there is plenty of flaring going on from the male, the female is just sitting there looking pretty. No nest building as of yet, so just hope he hasnt built himself out after the superb nest he built the other day!

Not yet, just letting them settle in today and trying not to disturb them too much. Did feed them earlier, and there was nothing then. He has an almond leaf and some polysterene in there so couple of things to use! And I know he wants her coz he built a nest for her before lol

He had about an hour before I added the female. I do have the marble male that would go good with her too, how long should I give them before swapping males? Not as easy as it looks is it? lol

Well if there is no nest by now hun, i would swap the males now hun

Aww thought so, shame they would have made a nice pair. BUt sure the marble male will be just as nice. Have just done water change and added fresh IAL for him, so may just give them one more night, then if nothing still will swap males tomorrow night x

Try Storms suggestion with a mirror next to where he would build a nest first before giving up on him. I know how impatient we can be but putting her with a different male you will be starting all over again. Then again that's all it takes sometimes. I've had a female tear up a male and I put her in with another one and spawn the next day. I have been breeding Betta's off and on for 40 years and by no means have it down to anything close to an exact science.

Well said Rich (hope you dont mind that name lol), i have had a couple of spawns over the years and the never do get easier.

you could probably do with letting the guy get used to the home before adding the female.

I give my boys 2 days alone in the tank then add the female in the tub for at least 2 days

Will get some later. The little nest that had been built was gone yesterday But Im gonna shove some bubble wrap in later, and have added more polystyrene with a leaf over it LOL hey I'll try anything once!
