Re: 1st spawn
That last picture you posted up is exactly how my biggest one looks now - Im convinced it's a boy now, just the shape of the fins gives it away too. Some lovely colouring coming in there!

Re: 1st spawn
Well this oldest one I have here Im 99% sure is male! And the second biggest in the tank by the side of it female - She's a nice orangy colour on her fins. Reason I say m/f is that when the male saw the female, he flared and she showed stripes (vertically!) He is colouring up lovely, has a metallic blue sheen all over his body now!

Re: 1st spawn
thats the hardest thing.. seeing which develop into the most gorgeous fish then you have to give them to someone else

Re: 1st spawn
I know that feeling. I had promised to sell 25 of them for a friends wedding. That got reduced to 17 and then I bought back 6 that didn't go home with anybody. Sniff sniff! I wanted to watch them all grow up a little more but that's 11 of them I wont have to feed or find homes for.

Re: 1st spawn
here 3 types of male from next weeks 10 i gotta take to shop another 20 jarred grrrrrrrr n more comin on
last ones my fave
prolly got 6 male types outa this spawn all very nice too, its making me rethink on breeding true type fish more and more, i like the luck of the draw thing and think with a little tweaking some crackers can be had,
other thing i noticed is the interest shops have in these lil mongrels, cheap n hardy i'm guessin.
So question is whats next for me lol
oh n talk about nightmare i caught two wrapped n spawning the other day in my comunity tank , i thought i had just added females grr! i managed to split them but not before the nest was full of eggs but i left those as food for the others as i have no intention of breeding these babies....
