Re: Crowntail Pair *video of KINK*
Well my little un's are getting quite big now compared to when they hatched! I finally received my worms through the post fearing the worst got in touch with the seller and he said they should be okay for upto a month.
So put them in the container with the ready brek and wow i cant believe how fast they've crawled up the sides and my little babies where a little curious at first just watching them, after that they'd gobble them up. They are stinky worms and very wriggly in the water yuck!

Re: Crowntail Pair *video of KINK*
Thanks Kel, im suprised iv got this far with them as this is the 1st successful spawn iv had!
Some babies are really quite big compared to the runts, iv just put them on the worms from them being on the powdered egg yolks and they where a little weary at first but now they gobble them down no problems, lol!
Im actually hoping that i get some red females like their dad but whatever they turn out to be will be a bonus
Iv recounted them today and i seem to have 19 so when i orginally counted them i saw 11, then last week 14 and now 19! Maybe as they get bigger they are easy to see.
Iv only had 2 die on me as these where so tiny.
Iv a few more photos that iv taken today so il put them up soon.
Now they are on worms is there any other foods i can give to them? Iv been looking at the tubs of decap brine shrimp that you dont need to hatch and the micro flakes...i want them to have a varied diet so they dont get stuck on 1 kinda food???

My little babies will be a month old on the 9th, my thats not half gone quickly!
Just fed them their worms and noticed a teeny tiny little baby that looked very strange...its tail was pointing right up rather than being straight, poor little thing looked like it was managing to swim about okay just looks very odd!

That kind of deformity usually shows up in my Guppies. Since the Plecostomus killed my Oscar I wouldn't be able to cull them. I'm sure you can judge whether it needs to be culled or not or just raised as a pet for yourself. Of all the Bettas I've raised I feel fortunate that I have had so few that needed to be culled. I have two that I wouldn't trade for most anything. One is a BF Cambo Red White male with a twisted humped back and the other a short bodied Copper Lace Black SD male.

Re: Crowntail Pair *video of KINK*
If it survives its a keeper, its growing a lot slower than the others i suppose down to not getting much food as it stays out of the others way up in the water lettuce iv got floating on top.
Seems to be managing swimming okay for now and there's only that 1...is there any reason for why just that 1 has ended up deformed??
The baby is like this shape __/ instead of the normal straight body and tail...

Re: Crowntail Pair *video of KINK*
Iv got a few photos to show you...managed to get a photo of the biggest baby and the smallest (Quasy the deformed baby)
The biggest baby:
Size difference between babies:
This is Quasy:
Look at Quasys body shape follow up from his head up to his tail you can see his shape!
They are growing quickly now at nearly a month old from when they hatched, some looking dark in colour others showing red and others having no colours at all...thought they only coloured up later on when they are older?
But as they've got bigger more and more appear so orginally i thought i had around 11 now iv counted 24!

Re: Crowntail Pair *video of KINK*
You will probably find that if quasy continues to fend for himself he'd live happily in a girls tank as long as you never jar him alone (if it's a him)
sometimes the deformed one's don't make it to adult, others may still have a long life, because of the shape he'll never be a fast swimmer so wouldn't bother girls much.
thats half the fun with fry tanks, count 5 times in a row and it will be a different number each time lol

It also contains aloe vera. There are no chemicals in RO water and I wouldn't use anything other than RO with my bettas.
