Yeh there colouring up nicely. There just on the brink of getting to that aggressive stage. I'm particularly loving the partial dragons with the yellow fins, they are looking very much like daddy in my profile piccy <-----
I'm not one for the cambo's but these are looking great, red fins with a hint of white/blue sheen on body, there dad was the cambo DT & mum was blue dragon, hoping the dragon takes a hint on some.

The other pair was the blue BF male and a white dragon female, to be honest am not sure whose come from that spawn....

Lots of colour there and quite the nice mixture!

no doubletails??

No this is the first spawn of my line, so 100% single tails on this one. You can tell the ones from that spawn though, they're shaped like a DT, the dorsal fin is very large.

So far I've jarred 13 what I believe to be males, they're fins are becoming very long. Will get some pics at some point.

You need two parents with the doubletail gene to have a chance of getting doubletail fry. The male from Damo's spawn was a doubletail, but the female was singletail with no doubletail genes. The fry from those parents should hold doubletail genes (and have the large dorsal fin) and if bred in the future with another fish with doubletail genes, have doubletail fry themselves. I've also got two spawns going at the moment all doubletail themed, I will make a diary soon, just waitin on the second lot of eggs to hatch.

Fry look great Damo, good job. You've got some amazing colours, some look MG dragon... sooo pretty. I hope to see some for sale in the future LOL.

But i remember reading that a DT must be bred with a ST,if DT with Dt,the babies will be deformed or something~

I don't know about advanced genetics. The singletail parent must have doubletail genes, even if they are not doubletail themselves, and be bred with another fish with doubletail genes or an actual doubletail, to produce doubltailed offspring.
If Damo bred his fry, singletails who hold doubletail genes, he would have a good chance of getting some doubletailed offspring from that spawn.

Breeding DT to DT for consecutive generations makes for a higher percentage of getting deformities in the resulting offspring. I have been breeding DT to ST for 6 generations and have only this last fall bred DT to DT. So far I only see one with a bend in the spine right before the end of the caudal peduncle and several with smaller upper lobes but that runs in my Copper DT's anyway. I thought I'd try something different and was rewarded with a spawn of over 600 fry and have some beautiful males I'm starting to jar now.

wow 600 fry!!! you must have fish everywhere chard!!! LOL!!

Yes I have used bottles.

All that iridescence, I'd have to wear my sunglasses just to feed them. Looking good!

Did I spy a bi color female in there?

They are beautiful and a good idea with the pop bottles will keep that in mind for when mine are bigger.

There are a couple of like marbled females in there...the sheen from the dragon scales are getting very bright now.
The bottles work well nat, I change 100% of the water every other day & add a small peice of IAL in each one. They just spend all day flaring at each other. The females are beginning to show breeding bars aswell.
It's amazing how bigs these have grown!!

This one is from the DTxHM spawn, which i think he is very likely to have inherited the DT geno what with his large finnage, can't wait for him to fill out more....looks exactly like his dad, just not a DT.
There's a marble like female beside him too

Fry are now 3 months old ...still going strong with the number still over 60.
