Hehe thanks, yes he is a big boy.. half tempted by the pink one, might set up a larger tank for 2 PK males as they need more space really.

He's not looking so hot tonight, did a big water change and now worrying about kel's comments about water quality being rubbish at weekends Sad buying RO water tomo for def.

The biggest water prob I'm seeing is the ammonia some days, others none but it's the PH that worries me the most. One day it's 8.0, next it's 8.8 when normally it's 7.0 spot on (using lime in the water works) Ammonia is more toxic at higher ph too which doesn't help in the slightest.

My tanks are all around 7.2 at the min but bumping in water at 8.8 is going to give me huge ph swings.

I'm using rainwater for now but have a butt of tap water with zeolite, peat, montmorilite clay and indian almond leaves in it to see if I can get the ph down to fish tank range before I use it. Seems to be working but will take a while to work out the sitting time.

In 4 hours the ph dropped from 8.8 to 8.4 and ammonia cleared.

Such a big difference in water stats is bound to affect even the most healthy of fish over time.

He didn't make it, so not sure if it's because he was a new arrival and the stress of moving again finished him off, or my water really is **** Sad

RIP my gorgeous God of a fish
