The eggs in the nest I did see him swishing them in his mouth so thought he maybe fertilising them. He did put them back, but next day they weren't there.

Re: SHOCK Spawn!!!
Well I'm not exactly sure what they did lol, I saw them wrap and drop eggs once. But later when I checked the female was on the other side of the tank, so presumed she'd finished and been chased away...but when I removed her, later I saw she was still dropping eggs.

Re: SHOCK Spawn!!!
If they only tried a couple of times, they may not have been able to get the postion right lmaooooo. He does not fertilize them with his mouth this is done withing the wrapping stage. So it could just be they might get it right next time round

Re: SHOCK Spawn!!!
Oh dear....oh bless, I separated them when they were probably enjoying themselves lol.
Ok well I'll give it a couple days, he needs to build a nest again.

Re: SHOCK Spawn!!!
female should have enough eggs to spawn but you're unlikely to get a huge amount since she did drop some
It's pretty much your call, you know the condition they're in.
If you try now they might just go for it but get a small nest or wait another few days but run the risk of her dropping the eggs before you let her out again.
either way I'd give them a months break afterwards.

Re: SHOCK Spawn!!!
I've released her, signs are looking very good.
I was just going to say he is amazingly gentle with her, not showing any agression at all (unlike Pasty does), he's slowly chasing her around drawing her to the nest. However just now he lost his patience and fully chased her lol.
She keeps quietly going and checking out his bubbles.
Will see how it goes, I'm going to keep a very close eye, so i know exactly what goes on.

Re: SHOCK Spawn!!!
Nothing to report. The males nest is huge now, have released the female every night for the past 2 days for about 4hrs and nothing has happened. My last spawn took 3 days of releasing the female before the spawning, so maybe tomorrow maybe lucky. We'll see.

Re: SHOCK Spawn!!!
Oh my god, as you know the other day I got my new BF male, I had put him in the spawn tank as was not being used, with a wedge divider sectioning a quarter of the tank with two female in seperated in chimneys (if u get my drift) as am conditioning for future spawns.
To cut a story short, have come home, some how the MG is in the section with the male, walk in and there they are in full wrap!!!
Somehow she's jumped out of the pot and got through the divider!!!
So I've kinda been forced with this spawn when I was planning a dragon one next!
Have no idea what to expect from this - both parents HM, one blue BF (male) and other MG (female)
hmmmmm.....well it just seemed a shame to split them up when in full swing, so have just bit my lip and left em too it.

Re: SHOCK Spawn!!!
Well it's a nice surprise, but i kinda wish it was planned, i wasn't planning on starting the introductions until next week....with the dragons lol.
Now im trying to sort out my plans over the weekend for the possibility of it being sucessful and removing the male and sorting food & worms for the fry.
heheheee you gotta laugh.
I just wish they'd hurry up as i was going to go Tesco's!!! LOL!!!

Re: SHOCK Spawn!!!
Possibly just got hunrgy ? Another thing I was wondering is I know lots of animals will eat eggs/offspring if they feel they are threatened, are betta's the same in that respect ? Maybe some males are just a bit more nervous that others and decide to eat the eggs as they think they will be loosing them anyway and dont want to waste the protein ?
