I decided to give up on my Red/Gold Dragon Halfmoon ,"The egg eater"!. So yesterday I put my best reddish orange female with the most ray splitting(4 ray) in with the pretty Gold Halfmoon with the white trim I have for my profile picture. I worked a double today and came home for lunch. It was raining most of last couple days so I went in my room to cuss out the breeders I had paired up for not taking advantage of the barometric pressure!!! I turned around and Vwalla! I haven't had eggs for almost two months.So far he's being a better Father than the Dragon.Please oh, please oh, please don't eat them!!!

Re: If at first you don't succeed
I have never had eggs hatch in under 28 hours before to my knowledge. There looks like several dozen left. Leaving the light on and the tank covered again tonight. I'm afraid to look in the morning. Maybe I can sleep well after tomorrow. I hate worrying about it but I can't help it. If I was a nail chewer they'd be down to the cuticles.

Why do we do this to ourselves? But it's very exciting. Hope they hatch soon.

Re: If at first you don't succeed
Sorry, I didn't explain better. They did hatch, I just had never had them hatch so fast. It was less than 28 hours that they hatched in. Unfortunately as I got ready for work and handed out morning feed, I removed the towel I had over the tank to find 0,Zero,nada,NOTHING. .............Round two (with these two) and we start over ....aah-gain. I think I'll keep them so full they won't have time to think about food by the time the next group hatch!! If I don't snatch myself baldheaded I'll be O.K. AAARRGH!!

Re: If at first you don't succeed
Yes, they weren't old enough to wander off. They would be on the bottom or in the nest. I looked everywhere. Hopefully he's just young. If he eats the fry again next time I'll try and catch a few dozen and lower the water to about an inch and remove him.

Re: If at first you don't succeed
def worth a try
it's so frustrating when they eat the eggs, leaves you a nervous wreck everytime you try to spawn any.
sometimes i will try lowing water, other steal half of them to float in a cup, others i remove the male at end of day one in the hope they'd be free swimming the next day
it's really odd how sometimes you get a perfect spawn then got problem after problem using the exact same methods.
