both now in the spawn tank and i released sparks for bout 10mins and no fin nipping from wat i could see so hopefully spyro will pull his finger out and build a nest

no sign of a nest any ideas kel

i think she is she gettin a lil fat lol so hopefully have let her out again and he seemed to show some more interest in her

Have some patience liam.. sometimes they can be in the breeding tank for a few days before they actually get started.

Also remember that occasionally a male won't build his nest until they've actually started to embrace.

If there's no major aggression I'd leave the female loose for longer. Just catch her again if you can't keep an eye on them and at night if you want to be cautious

you got any tips of plants on the surface?
i usually balance it on one... one bubbles are made it floats good. or use a small piece of bubble wrap with the leaf balancedhalf on it.

bubblewrap works just as good on its own and male will build under it fine so it's no big loss of leaf sinks. You still get the benefits of the leaf nutrients but no panic if/when it does sink.

Many peeps often use half a styrofoam cup for the male to nest in too

will see if i can get a styrofoam cup some where then 2moz

I have half a poly cup and frogbit in my spawning tank, my male is being a bit slow as well, let the female out for a couple of hours earlier in the hope it would inspire him but no joy yet! Hope your boy gets bubbling soon!!!

nt yet lol have tried adding some of a nest form 1 of my other bettas to try he showing lots of interest keeps flaring more at her

well have decided to finish this pair for now as there wasnt no progress at all so hopefully will tyr again in about a month or so
