Gold Halfmoon spawn....Finally
After finally finding a Gold Halfmoon to introduce into my Gold Copper line. I shuffled some tanks and shelf space around to put him with a Gold Yellow female from a Gold DT spawn last night. Today they got right down to it. I'm so tickled to finally have this quality of Gold. This is 3 years in the making!

Re: Gold Halfmoon spawn....Finally
Oh Nat if you were just within a few miles or so. I checked on the male this morning and didn't see any eggs. My heart sank thinking I finally get a Gold Halfmoon and he eats the eggs. After all this time I'm going to have to rebreed them and try artificial hatching. I'm not sure but he seems to be holding the entire clutch of eggs in his mouth swimming around trying to decide where to hide them. I don't know if he thinks he's a mouthbrooder or I'm that much of a threat!

Re: Gold Halfmoon spawn....Finally
Not as bad as I thought. He has most of the eggs stuffed up on top of the bubbles. He finally spit the ones he was carrying around out. He'd shove his face up as far as he could in the bubbles and spit them out. This is my 98th spawn since getting back into Bettas over three years ago and they always seem to come up with something I've never seen before. Most of them do things pretty much the same but there's always one of them that's got to do it just a little different.

He missed the bag!! lol! Maybe he's just over zealous. Glad to hear there might be some now.
Wow! 98 spawns. You have to do something extra special for the 100th one iif you can come up with something!

Re: Gold Halfmoon spawn....Finally
I just set up a 20 gallon to combine a couple spawns in to free up the 10 gallon tanks they were in. So I have to figure out what I really desperately absolutely have to have (as I'm running out of space) and get it done so I can go back to loading the trailer with wood for the big move. It's in the yard on a slight slope so with this rain and what I do have loaded I'm not going to try to hook the truck up and dig a trench with the back tires and get stuck so I can't go anywhere. Now, hmmmmm what to spawn????

Might be better to wait until after your move. You have so many as it is. What date are you
shooting for?

Do you like Plakats?? I have a fancy pair that I absolutely love but Im going in a different direction now with my bettas and will probably never breed them and they are too nice not to breed! Would be something different for you too!
Would you like them? No charge! I'll send them when I send you the CT male!!

Oh, wow I would love them. I've been wanting to add something different to my Plakats and that would deffinately work. Are you sure I can't pay you for them?

Re: Gold Halfmoon spawn....Finally
She's a little young for me and lives 1,000 miles away besides I have 6 kids now. Oh, it was the Bettas you were talking about! Sorry I'm an out of work wanna-be comedian. Flare I would love those PK's and would be happy to send the MG Veiltail male to you. I've got over 14 or 15 Bettas in 6 or 7 packages to send out this next week (weather permitting) so I'll see if I can squeeze you in.

Re: Gold Halfmoon spawn....Finally
I believe so. If not he's very close to being one. I've seen what they look like but I don't know what describes one as a Sky Hawk. I had a Blue Butterfly Sky Hawk that died after three days and took him back. There was another one but he didn't look like he would have made the ride home. I would have loved to add his genes to my Green BFHM line. I went back a week later and got this one. I just took the Gold Daddy out a little while ago. The little hoodlums were free swimming and he wasn't able to keep them in any semblance of order.

Re: Gold Halfmoon spawn....Finally
I moved this spawn to a bigger tank for the second time. They are starting to color up shiny gold and number about a hundred. I've had my eye on a Gold Marble HM female that showed up in an 8 ray CT spawn so I put them together last night and have a nice big clutch of eggs from them today. Most of the Bettas I spawn are for me to obtain different colors or tail types that I think will sell well but this line is strictly for my own personal choice and tastes, ME ME ME! Well, I might sell some too.

Well you should do spawns for yourself. Sounds like you'll have enough to sell without missing
any. Does a nice big clutch=100 fry again? Haha!

Re: Gold Halfmoon spawn....Finally
I had to take my spotlight and go look. My exact words were, "Oh...my...God!" What a pile! I tried taking pictures of them embracing but the plastic container they're in isn't opaque enough. The spot shines up real well and I bet there's 3 or 4 hundred eggs in there. This was her first spawn but she's the biggest one of the spawn and I wanted to spawn her before she got any bigger. She is a tank and every bit as big as the male at just 5 months. I think these are going to be Super Mega Ultra Gorgeous. He's grown some and is extremely handsome. As with his last spawn I don't see so much as a misplaced scale.
