White Opaque Halfmoons Empty White Opaque Halfmoons

Post by kel Sun Jan 09, 2011 7:38 am

I had a spawn hatch over christmas week so only two weeks old at the minute, they're too small in a huge tank for me to have a chance of catching a few specific individuals, nevermind getting a clear picture yet but..

there are two I've spotted that look full moon... doubletail with full 180 spread!

I know there was double tails in their history but that was about 3-4 generations before so will be watching them with interest.

Can't believe the spread they have already... I hope it doesn't get wider, the rest of the fry are still only on delta spread but the rays are still forming so they have a while to go.

they do look cute even if you need a magnifying glass to see them lol

Will keep you all updated and fingers crossed no disasters!

just added some more plants to try and cut down the algae growth!

plus a bag or two of daphnia to add to the pond style eco system i'm trying to have in that tank.

think fry count is around 60 at mo but some fry are huge, others more like i'd expect, fry tums are all colours so eating a varied diet

I'm feeding bbs and dried rotifers but tank has loads of micro bugs that they are definately eating too.

Thats fantastic! You must be excited and pleased the DT is showing up again after all the
generations in between. Thats plenty of food for thought although I wouldn't begin to
know which course it might be. I'll be watch for the final tally of DTs. Very cute!

i was surprised at the dt's.. total shock, counted 7 for definate at mo but see how they all progress.. the ones i spotted are full 180 spread and very even lobes so far so fingers crossed.

until they hit 4 weeks i expect deaths but so far so good i've only fished out one fry since moving them to the 3 ft tank at under a week old

    they're xmas babies Very Happy
