Now I know why people enter their Betta 's at 3 months of age. Here is one of my best Halfmoons at 3 and 1/2 months[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Here is the same fish at 4 and 1/2 months[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]He no longer has a 180 degree caudal and looks like he's trying to grow Crowntail extensions. I still think he's one of the most beautiful Betta's I've ever seen let alone had personally but I think I learned a little something if I ever want to show my Betta's it will be when they are at there peak at 3 to 4 months old.

You wouldn't have thought they're the same fish, more like brothers. It's strange how he lost the spread.

Re: Show Quality
The father of the spawn this one came from just kept getting bigger and bigger fins as he aged and went over Halfmoon while this one seems to be going in another direction.

Re: Show Quality
It seems like every other week I find a surprise Betta that has filled out when I wasn't looking and some just keep getting better. I wish I had caught the last one growing out before he got stuck in the girls tank for a month. I love the blue on black but I don't know if he'll grow his fins back straight. I've never been a fan of Pink but that Pink and Red Halfmoon is out of this world.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]The next two are the same fish just different lighting.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Everything else around me can turn to crap but I can always go look at my beauties and it all goes away.

Ho many jars did you get in the end Chard? I never asked you! Is there a national shortage yet?

Re: Show Quality
I have 130 males in jars at the moment down from 150 from sales. There are another 30 or 40 that either need to be or will soon need to be jarred. The owners of the chain pet store haven't called like they said so I'll just keep plodding along on the forums and Aquabid. I'm not in a hurry to part with them so selling a couple here and a couple there is fine with me.
