**Flerting Video** - 13Feb

I've set up the next spawn tank..or should i say box. I cleaned out the box couple days ago and have set it up yesterday with some live plants and IAL's.

I decided to introduce the dragon into my line, the batch i had last year there's a lovely female in there whose got a lovely blue lining to her finnage of blue. One thing im slightly unsure of is thats she's just hit 6months old, therefore is she still abit too young? she's seems interested in the boys when she was jarred next to her brothers.

The male I've had for awhile, but is quite a good size for her. And he's the one with the dragon scaling.

excuse the masking tape on the side, unless i stuck the lead to the box the heater wouldn't keep still. The box looks smaller there than what it is.
Oh & thats not my bed by the way LOL!!! its the spare room lol. I've now moved the box to the centre of that peice of MDF I've got to keep it nice and steady.

Love the idea of the polystyrene box may try that one myself at some point.

Good luck. 6months isn't too young aslong as she's well fed and not too small for the male. The boy looks a bit rosetail-esque, he's really handsome.

Hopefully his finnage will make up for her lack of ray splitting in her caudal. If he is indeed Rosetail-esque her 2 ray caudal will reduce the excessive rays in the fry.

Would that mean they would be just DeT/SD's?

I'm not sure whether the male is a feather tail or no, when he flares his tail is never spread fully. The breeder I bought him from believed him to be HM, this makes me sound so nieve.

Werid though the female on has 2 rays, her parents were SDxHM with many rays, but I guess you don't know what was coming from there ancestors.

If he has a 16 ray caudal or better you should still get a good ray count from the offspring. The Halfmoons I have now don't have anything under 8 rays. I had access to HM males but I couldn't find any good HM females so I had to weed through hundreds and waited for new ones to come in until I found some with a few 4 ray branching in their caudals and bred them to HM's or Over HM's with a lot of ray branching. Now a couple generations later I don't have to look for good females, I already have them.

Well I've introduced the female earlier, she's been in the chimney all day. Came home to bubblenest built. Have realised the female into the box with the male for couple hours for them to have a flirt, obiviously with close inspection.
I usually find spawning usually works well by releasing the female in with the male a couple hours a day until they eventually spawn.

I've just had a little check and there both frollocking away under the nest!!! No spawning yet though.

Will leave em to it a little longer then....

The past few days ive been letting the female in with the male for a little flert....

all the signs are there today, male has a lovely nest which he's attending to constantly, and the female is fat and displaying full bars.

I accidently fell asleep last night having left the female in the box with him, (dont ask, i went to bed watching a film with the intention of putting her back after, but of to the land of nod i went lol)
No worries, the female and male are both fine, they are actually getting along very well.

This evening has been constantly fllerting, the female going straight up to the nest and back, not quite spawning yet though....

I'm wondering whether tonight though if nothing happens by the time i go bed, to leave her there again in hope of tonight they spawn, or jar her again to build up the tension until tomorrow night???

What would you do?

I think that if they are getting along well and no fin tearing then leave them together. Taking her out and back in at this point is like starting over everytime.
