Siamese fighting fish.
Since youve stumbled in here by accidient lol I'll give you a brief
Betta splendens is the proper name. Pet shops usually sell droopy tailed red and blue male versions of them as much as goldfish.
For a fish they do have personalities... you spend time with them they will swim into and eat from your hand... call them by name from far side of the room and they'll be straight to the front of the tank. I've even had ones that tried to chase remote control cars going passed their tanks.
They're called fighting fish due to the fact that two males who meet will fight. It was an old tradition in siam (thailand) to put two together and bet on the outcome.
Now we have show competitions of the finnage and form of these fish.
We judge them on their full flare fighting pose (a mirror makes them take their pose) instead of actually fighting them.
