HMPK x PK Empty HMPK x PK

Post by Nataliey Wed Sep 07, 2011 9:08 pm

This spawn is special to me as im using one of my home bred females iv managed to raise from my first sucessful spawn Very Happy

The male is a white/green/red marble HMPK imported from Indonesia and the female is pale blue showing a little red in her finnage, raised by me and she's a PK.

I really dont want to distract them so no photos taken, the male has already been spooked when the female wiggled at him so much that the IAL with his bubbles underneath got pushed across the other side of the tank.

So i decided on a short video they where aware of what i was doing but wasnt too bothered.

No eggs have been dropped yet and they've been wrapping for about an hour and half now, i released them at about 9.30am this morning.

Here's the video and il apologise about the background noise now my daughter was watching Peppa Pig!

I'll be watching this spawn with interest. Remind me again what the parents of the female were? Were they both PK? I have 2 similar spawns planned for Feb.

The father of the female was a Super delta grey/black BF and the mother was a copper halfmoon.

They should be swimming around by sunday il show you when you pick the males up if you like Very Happy

It's nice to hear about the good Dad's once in a while. I always hear about the ones that eat the eggs and fry but not often enough about the good ones. I took one out yesterday because I thought he was spending too much time chasing back and forth from one side to the other trying to chase off the fry in the tank on one side and juveniles on the other side in another tank. 36 hours later I finally got the last of the four he was tending in his jar. I shined the light in and realized there were close to 200 fry so he must have been riding herd pretty well.

I managed to entice him out yesterday with some food, he wasnt looking tired and looks to have quite a few fry but now they've all moved from the nest and they are that small cant really see that many!
