I ship to anywhere in the US. I'm about ready to pick a few to pair up for another generation. I am not ready to part with any of the Purples as yet.

Here's a few shots from a month ago. There are several with a wide Black trim. Maybe a couple more generations to get the Red wash out.

Number 3 is definitely the purplest betta I've ever seen. Who said it's not genetic? Rolling Eyes

Everyone from stuck up snotty know-it-alls to professional breeders, administators, moderators and newbies to the Betta community have told me that purple is not a true breeding strain and only pops up occassionally. Mine are popping up "occassionally" every spawn at 25 % to 50% and more. I usually get a genetic rhetoric sermon on colors and told that I have Royal Blue with Red wash and Royal Blue can look Purple at certain angles and under different lighting. So I just ignore them and quit trying to prove it to them a long time ago. I've leaked a few Purple Red distant cousins out to Aquabid but until I'm satisfied with the color and finnage I'll keep them under my hat.

Wait no more! I need to decide on who's going to volunteer to be the parents of the next generation so here are a few candidates. The first one is one of the second generation males. About a year and a half he and his brothers are still quite active and flare at each other most of the day. Purple Orange Plakat (Don't know where the Orange came from) and a Purple Red one. This metallic Purple color acts like my Platinum, Gold and Copper, covering the entire body and turning a lighter shade where it overlaps on the fins. Mostly Purple Red I have some that look like my Blue and Black Devils with Red finnage and a wide Black border. There a few with Yellow in their fins, I'm guessing; coming form the original Chocolate female.

Thought I'd share a couple of pics on my take of a purple betta. He's a bit sulky and he's a VTdt.

If he's purple he has the right to sulk. Just kidding! How did he come about BTW?

Was from my first spawn. Piccs are on the forum. Female was a lavender VTDT and male was a red comb tail. I got mainly dark blue, purple, metallic blue sheen and I think one marble (ATM she looks like a case of saddle back). All are or should be VTdt.

A little update on the Purple's. I couldn't decide which way to go with this project so I did it three ways. I set up three pairs, one pair is a Purple and Yellow (Purple Gas) another is the Purple with Red and Black fins (Purple Devil) and the third pair are Purple with Red wash Plakats. They all three spawned the 13th but I only see fry in the Plakats tank. He was looking around like he wanted out of the daycare center he was running so I did and it looks like there is about a hundred or so. He was telling me to BACK OFF! in this picture the day before but today he wanted out of there. The little guys were scattered from one end to the other and he looked like he was sick of trying to chase them down.
