| Here we go again, i have set up the spawning tank once again to have another crack at it, i succeeded in raising four fry from my last spawn back in sept 10, albeit they dont have ventrals but they have made it to adulthood i now feel ready to try again. The pair i have chosen is my red plakat boy who has a little dragon scaling and a platinum white girl who i was going to spawn with a matching male but he died the other day so that idea went out of the window. They are in the spawning tank and the male is currently busy building a nest, before i set the tank up i had the pair side by side in my barracks so have been feeding them up for a while now. Heres the male [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Hope it all goes as swimmingly as the last spawn |

| The fishroom not really progressed yet i just got the forms today to apply to the council for pemission to wire electric from the house to the shed, as we rent from the council we cant do anything without their consent once thats been granted it wont be long then we can get cracking with it, |

| i cheated on that for the minute.. fishroom fully wired with its own consumer unit etc but still only on a plug into a socket in house until i get the house rewired
then i'll have it all approved and extended to the direct mains fuse box supply
(most likely i'll still need my fishroom wiring either just checked or disconected and reconnected 'cos it's not the house wiring electricians handywork' although its fully up to todays standards) |

| Beautiful pair, will make lovely babies. Good luck.
Im worrying my babies i have now dont have ventrals as i cant see any lumps that may indicate where they would grow. |

| it take the fish a few times to get it spot one.. allow yourself also the time to work out what works best on your side to get the best results too hun
Hopefully they'll both be redy together soon hun
It is a constant learning curve, I'm still learning more and more all the time myself
also after a year break from spawning its almost like learning from scratch, have to really think to remember what worked best for me and when... guess another reason for doing book.. different circumstances require diferent measures! |

| Hi Sarah. I've had a couple of sucessful spawns recently and when I get more than 2 seconds free I'll make a new diary. But what helped me with one of my pairs who were being unresponsive was: steal bubbles from another male, and also I put another female in with the male to try and get the other female fired up as she'd been glum for nearly three days of trying. Both females were in breeding traps and the second female striped up right away. The first female got fired up and started (finally) flaring at the male, who clearly prefered her to the new girl. Then after a couple of hours I released the new female and she was interested but the boy only had eyes for the original female, who was looking suddenly much more gravid with her egg tube poking out alot more. After half an hour I took the new female out completely and released the first female and they started wrapping within five minutes.
HTH! It's frustrating isn't it?! Hope yours start getting amorous soon :-) |
