    NOthing is going right!

The first pair I tried to spawn, female was ready! Male hadnt got a clue and was doing some damage, so took her out. Tried another female - Same again, she was ready, he hadnt got a clue! So decided to take him out, leave the female in and replace male with blue/black HM male. Let him have a while to investiage, let female out - Nothing, nada, she didnt wanna know with him! So replaced with my blue dragon female - She striped up, he doesn't wanna know! Huge bubble nest, she's striped - It's not happening!

Is it time of month? Time of year? Am I just not getting the right pairs?

How long do you leave together before giving up?

I think doing a slow release works. I had a totally early spawn today by using the method of release 2 x daily for 2 hours over 2 days, then on the third morning upon release mine all seem to get down to it.

Today and my cello/red pair both spawned one release early with no damage and no time wasting Smile

Well this is great NOT. Now found the female blue dragon dead. Can only assume the male killed her as she was fine in the tub. Won't be using him again. Fed up now.

horrible when that happens, I lost a girl two weeks ago from spawn injuries, managed to spawn too then male ate the eggs

now is a hard time to breed with the air pressure changes... they should get more responsive mid/late november as the weather settles to winter levels... they spawn best when a storm is brewing too

give breeding a few weeks break hun then start from scratch, should have more success... condition a few pairs and be ready to mix and match for who's ready first.

Yeah I'd pretty much decided after finding her last night that I was gonna leave it a while. Was really gutted coz that blue dragon girl was a stunner, and would have gone lovely with the male. Im pretty sure I wont try him anymore either - Im not risking another girl be killed, he's just too vicious Shocked

Will give it a good few weeks, then try again with my original pairing, the silver/copper delta - He's a lovely fish and I have a fair few that would go with him.

Thanks guys for letting me rant xx

Oh dear. What a bummer! Are you sure he killed her? Had you used her before? I put a pair of dragons together once and she just sat at the back of the tank, head down, not moving. He'd go and nip her to get her to move. I thought she was being fussy so changed male. The next male gave up on her. She wasn't eating or anything (I feed mine during spawning). At a closer look, I noticed the tiniest bit of mouth fungus that must have come from the stress. I wonder if maybe your girl didn't get stressed too.
I had another one that, when put with a female for the first time, went for her throat. I pulled her out half dead after about 30 mins. A couple of months later, he must have matured as he was the perfect gentleman. Don't give up on your boy. He sounds worth it. It'll give you time to get your hands on another blue dragon girl for him ;-)

And now to top this thread off, the blue/black male that killed the dragon now has very bad sticky fins and dropsy too boot Crying or Very sad The copper pair I tried to spawn are still doing fine, but I've lost the other girl I tried him him too, so this breeding attempt did not go well at all.

I've decided to diminish my betta stick for now over the winter, and will pick this up again maybe early in the new year or the spring, depending how I feel at the time. Quite sad thinking Im gonna lose this boy as even though he was violent to the girl, he was a stunning fish, and one of my first imports from Kel! Was love at first sight!

Got little guy out now, only adding salt at this moment in time but gonna use the Octozin tomorrow for the dropsy and keep fingers crossed. The dropsy is more of a worry at the moment than the sticky fins. Although of course the other option is the epsom salt. Oh I dunno what to dO! Sad
