Re: Daggeth & Dannith
I know! They were such darlings. Poor chap though, he'd build a nest, chase her under it, but she wasn't happy, so he made it a bit bigger and kept on until she was satisfied. Little Miss Perfect she is lol.
I had tried breeding him once before a couple of months ago, but he just tore the female to shreds, so I swore I'd never use him again. It seems like he's matured somewhat :-) He's all about bunches of flowers now.

I don't think the eggs got fertilised, though. She only released them once he'd let go and started searching for them. It was her first time, so she's forgiven.

I did a 99% water change today and took the opportunity to photograph the fry for a head count. Anyone fancy helping? Lol

I know lol There's over twice as many as I thought we had.
On another note, my little dragon must have Japanese blood. He builds bubble apartments.
s'cuse the misdirections. My apologies for any cricked necks obtained while viewing the pics.

He's a very positive chap, cos he keeps adding to it, but I'm not giving him a female yet! I want to be 100% sure he's 100% healthy first. Besides, there's no more room in the breeding tank as it is at the moment!

That is a whole lotta' babies. I don't think I have that many in any one tank, Great job! That nest looks like some of the thunderheads I've flown over!

I can't take any credit, it was all the fish's doing! 484... there's no way there was that many eggs. Can fish have twins? Or decaplets?

Re: Daggeth & Dannith
I'm sorry? That's none of your business. KIDDING! No really I have no idea what a PPL is. I am barely computer literate and I'm not up on all the abbreviations. Yes fish can have twins. I've had many, many conjoined or siamese twins in my guppy fry. I always hoped one would make it past a week but none so far. Was that duplicates?

Re: Daggeth & Dannith
It was whatever the word is for ten babies at once. Guppies seem to be the Thoroughbred of the fish world in that they have the highest number of 'wierd' offspring.
A PPL is a Private Pilot Licence.

Oh, no license. I've flown back and forth many times from Missouri to California, a 3,600 mile round trip at 20+ thousand feet. Mostly on southwest airlines which is like flying in a bus with wings! I'll never sit in a window seat again!!

Down to 482
After having spent hours over the past couple of weeks trying to get a decent photo, i gave up. I netted these two, stuck them in a glass and said "cheese!"

Re: Daggeth & Dannith
That's freakin' awesome! 482 from one spawn, what a haul! There looking good and don't buy up all the vases and jars before I'll need them! By the way, how did your male keep up with all those fry once they were hatched? My 4 & 1/2 month old Copper/Gold CT male is taking care of his second brood and he has twice as many on the bottom as he has in the nest. I think I'll pull him and lower the water to an inch before he kills himself chasing the little suckers all over the tank. He looks ready to have a panic attack and lose it!

Re: Daggeth & Dannith
I had some javafern on bogwood in the breeding tank, so the ones that could swim went and hung out in there. I guess that helped him out a bit. Plus I fed him. Poor chap, it's such hard work being a daddy. He used to come out of the nest at feeding time, gobble up a few pellets, then rush back in case any fry had escaped in his absence.
Thank goodness we each have a country of vases and jars! This country ain't big enough for the both of us.
Maybe your little chap is quite happy, keeping busy. Makes a change from doing nothing! I left my chap in for a week. I figured he could do a much better job at looking after his children than me. Next time, I might try leaving him in until they're all bigger. See what happens.
